Whimsical Disney Picture Frame – How To

Disney Picture Frame - How ToDress up your Disney pictures or trip photos with wonderful picture frames you can make yourself. Just follow our instructions below.

Disney Picture Frame - How ToWe were lazy and didn’t bother taking the picture out of the frame so we just masked off the glass with masking tape and newspaper. Place your frame on some newspaper or cardboard outside or someplace where you don’t care about overspray. Don’t just place it on the ground because the spray will kick up dust that will get into your paint job. Spray your frame with the base color you want. We did 2 picture frames. Both frames were white. One I sprayed Royal Blue as the base coat and the other I sprayed Black as the base coat. It’s better to do several light coats rather than one heavy coat. Otherwise you might have paint runs – not good.

Disney Picture Frame - How ToYou’ll need to purchase a Disney Paper Punch. We got ours from Michael’s but you can probably find these online as well.

Disney Picture Frame - How ToAlso purchase some general purpose labels that are big enough for your punch size.

Disney Picture Frame - How ToAfter the paint has dried (overnight is best unless you’re in the hot summer sun of Florida) peel and apply the labels over the base coat as you like. Be sure the labels are adhered around the edges.

Disney Picture Frame - How ToDisney Picture Frame - How ToIn addition to our punched out labels we also wanted some Tigger Stipes so we took some masking tape and tore it in half and randomly placed the strips on the frame, wrapping them around the outside and back. They don’t have to be perfect! This is Tigger we’re talking about. For that matter the Mickey ears don’t have to be perfect either. Variety gives character to your creation.

Disney Picture Frame - How ToThis is what your project will look like so far.

Disney Picture Frame - How ToDisney Picture Frame - How ToNow, spray paint over everything with the main color. Since Tigger is orange that’s what we used.

Disney Picture Frame - How ToLet the paint dry (again, overnight is best). Then carefully peel off the label punches and masking tape. Carefully use a razor knife to get under the edges. Be careful not to scratch through the base coat.

Disney Picture Frame - How ToNow hang your picture, stand back and admire your creation!

  1. Love this idea – would be cute in a smaller frame with a picture of your children enjoying a character or moment at Disney
